→Letter for Abelar and Helaah

Esteemed Abelar and Helaah,

It is I who have failed you. Do not blame Aesom or Boros; I am entirely at fault for the disaster that your family now suffers, of which it is my duty to regretfully inform you.

Your daughter, Astrolabe, whom Aesom saw fit to assign to me as an apprentice in the way of the Light, has run away. She has not done so out of cowardice but because I provoked her to this course of action.

The Aldor informed me of your worries regarding the blood elf who was attempting to seduce her. Although I acted out of concern for the child, I overstepped my bounds when I went through her belongings and found a journal marked with the blood elven language containing his love letters. I confiscated it and attempted to make her see reason; though she was stubborn, she did not protest too violently. Still, I was concerned that these writings, as well as your letters, would confuse her and distract her from my lessons, so I kept them from her.

I beg your forgiveness. My intention was to create an environment in which she could hone her skills and strengthen her heart without distraction, as well as to fortify her against our people's enemies. But I was much too hard on her, too violent with my words. I should have been able to see her anger building before it erupted. The other Vindicators even warned me that I was being too harsh with her training; I burdened her delicate soul too much, too quickly.

Our warriors and trackers are still scouring the island as I write this. We do not have a definite trail yet, but we have not discovered any remains, thankfully.

Before she left, her training was proceeding magnificently, and I do believe her able to defend herself competently, as long as she does not try to give herself over to the enemy.

We will write to you again immediately upon acquiring any more information. Should it turn out that your child is unable to return to you, I will welcome your hatred and forever bear the guilt.

May the Light forgive me.

Kuros
